Review Hellfire&Bowties

Oh my goodness, Hellfire & Bowties by A.M. Rose was a delightful surprise! I went in expecting a fun read based on the premise alone – a human mistakenly sent to Hell who falls for the Devil? Sign me up! But it exceeded my expectations in the best way possible. The story is genuinely hilarious. The author’s wit shines through in the dialogue and situations, resulting in laugh-out-loud moments scattered throughout. I particularly loved Oren's reaction to the underworld; his utterly unfazed and even enthusiastic approach to the chaos of Hell was consistently endearing and unexpected. Instead of fear and revulsion, he sees opportunities for organization and makes friends with hellhounds and demons with an ease that's both charming and absurd.

The world-building is cleverly done. It’s a unique take on the traditional Hell, blending the demonic with a surprisingly mundane office setting, complete with paperwork and filing systems. This juxtaposition enhances the humor and makes the setting feel both fantastical and surprisingly relatable. A.M. Rose cleverly balances the fantastical elements with the realistic reactions of the characters, making it easier to connect with the unfolding narrative.

While the romance between Oren and Luc (the Devil) is central to the plot, it doesn't overshadow the other elements. Their relationship develops organically, with a believable build-up of sexual tension and affection. The chemistry between them is undeniable, making their interactions a highlight of the book. The author masterfully balances the steamy scenes with genuinely sweet moments, creating a compelling and satisfying romance. The pacing is brisk, keeping the story moving along at a satisfying clip.

Now, some reviews mentioned wishing for more of Oren's organizational prowess in Hell – and I can see that point. There’s a delightful setup with his organizational skills, but the payoff isn't as fully explored as it could be. However, for me, this didn't detract significantly from the overall enjoyment. The focus on the blossoming relationship between Oren and Luc, alongside the humor and well-developed supporting characters, provided ample entertainment.

I also appreciated the light and fluffy nature of the story. There’s a refreshing lack of unnecessary angst, allowing the fun and romance to take center stage. It’s the kind of book you can curl up with and lose yourself in, emerging with a smile and a warm feeling inside. I wholeheartedly recommend Hellfire & Bowties to anyone looking for a light-hearted, funny, and surprisingly heartwarming paranormal romance. And honestly? I can't wait for the next installment! Give me more Oren and Luc!
